	Fern Woods Wisconsin January 2006. Many fabrics glued and sewn onto hand dyed background, then embellished with a few hand painted tree trunks. 33" x 47" NFS
	Sierra Leone #1 Fabric was made by women in Sierra Leone and brought to Madison by a friend. This "plate" which can hang or be placed in a plate stand measures 12" diameter. It is heavily free-motion quilted, embellished with beads and metallic threads. $175 SOLD This plate cannot be exactly replicated but other designs are available.
	Sierra Leone #2 This fabric was also handmade by women of Sierra Leone. This "plate" which can hang or be placed in a plate stand measures 12" diameter and is embellished with beads and metallic threads. The orange/yellow hand-dyed fabric is my own, embellished with decorative threads. Cannot be exactly replicated but designs close to this are available. Private collection.

Read Poem	"I AM A SOLDIER" A collaboration between Susan Fiore and Renée Shedivy. Process: Susan sent text to Renée, who interpreted it visually, which led to more text and a back-and-forth cyclic feedback between the two.* Words from actual soldiers View up in the final fabric work. A photo-postcard from a soldier in 1918 (World War I) Views what shell fire does to a forest. Quotations stemmed from American poet Walt Whitman and British poet Siegfried Sassoon; Whitman, a Quaker, volunteered in battlefield hospitals during the Civil War. Sassoon, an officer, served four tours of duty in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in World War I, finally awarded the Military Cross. On the back of the fabric, the military ID of Paul Dregne resides, a Wisconsin National Guardsman who served during the Berlin Crisis in 1961-62. Adding to the collaborative effort, when Susan brought the fabric work, the Gardners suggested this page be mounted as a companion to it. From a choice of 12x16 inch boards, she picked this one for mounting a description of her process with Renée and her words, liking its black lines and the rough qualities ("like war"). And she likes the Times Roman font used here for its associations to news reports.
	Midnight Moonlight I drew the fairy and machine embroidered her free hand. The moon, trees, flowers, rocks, and grasses were all added layer upon layer and then sewn in a variety of methods. Bead and threadwork, including metallics and yarns embellish. 52" x 30". 49"w x 27" h $385 NFS View Detail
